21st Century C.A.R.E. is a not-for-profit charitable foundation dedicated to cancer patients. The foundation was originally established in 1996 by Dr. Charles Thomas in Asheville, NC when a grateful patient bequeathed a generous sum for the purpose of providing cancer education in the community. In January 2007, a new Board of Directors was elected and the headquarters was moved to Fort Myers, Florida
Financial Assistance For Cancer Patients
21st Century C.A.R.E. provides patients financial assistance for incidental expenses related to active cancer treatments. This allows the patient to put their focus where it belongs – on beating the disease. An application form, found on our website must be completed. Applications are processed without delay. We will call the patient’s physician to verify his/her diagnosis. Once the application is approved, we can then offer patients financial assistance for incidental expenses related to: transportation to and from treatments, follow-up visits related to cancer-care, childcare during treatment, temporary housing due to geographical distance from the treatment center, medical supplies and much more.
Cancer education is crucial to both health care providers and cancer patients so that both groups can be aware of the latest information related to cancer care. We strive to offer physicians and other health care providers the highest quality education on cancer through our national conference, the Fall Foliage Cancer Conference, held in Asheville, NC every fall. The faculty at this conference are known experts in their fields and it attracts attendees from all over the country.
